CyclePel works with FTMS-compatible smart trainers, including:
- Wahoo: Kickr Core, Kickr v5/v6, Kickr Bike
- Tacx: Neo series, Flux series
- Elite: Direto, Suito, Turno series
- Saris: H3, M2 series
Any trainer that supports the FTMS (Fitness Machine Service) Bluetooth protocol will work with ERG mode control.
No additional sensors are required, but they can enhance your experience:
- Heart Rate Monitor: Optional but recommended for training zones
- Cadence Sensor: Only needed if your trainer doesn't report cadence
- Speed Sensor: Not needed - speed is calculated from trainer power
No, Bluetooth devices can only connect to one app at a time. You'll need to:
- Close other cycling apps before using CyclePel
- Restart CyclePel if connection issues occur after using other apps
- Consider using ANT+ for other apps if your trainer supports both protocols
Creating custom workouts is easy:
- Tap the "+" button on the main screen
- Choose "Create Custom" workout
- Add intervals with specific duration and power targets
- Include warmup, work, rest, and cooldown phases as needed
- Save and execute your workout with connected trainers
Currently, CyclePel stores all data locally on your device and doesn't sync with external services. We're considering integrations with:
- Apple Health (HealthKit) for workout data
- Popular cycling platforms like Strava, TrainingPeaks
- File export options (TCX, FIT formats)
These features are planned for future releases based on user feedback.
